New Year 7 intake evening a great success

We are pleased to announce that the New Year 7 intake evening was a great success. The evening was well attended by parents, carers and students who were given a guided tour of our fantastic new building. Our students showed brilliant support in assisting visitors around the building, and they were very proud in doing so.

We are all now very excited about the completion of the new buildings and can’t wait to invite members of the school community in to take a look.

Great news !

On Wednesday 9th May: 7pm we have:
‘Glam & Glitz’ (Hollywood meets Bollywood)
Charity Fashion Show in aid of Cancer Research and Compton Hospice.

Ticket Price: £5 (ahead of the event) and £6 on the door. Ticket price includes a complimentary ‘Mocktail’ and canape.
Venue: Main School Hall
Fashion collections include student work and Prom collections from ‘Grace and Glory’ (Tettenhall) and ‘Silk Couture’.

Purchases can be made on the night!

Mohinder Janda Wolverhampton Indoor Cricket league

The Year 8 Cricket team, won the final game against NEWA to remain the only team to be unbeaten in the Wolverhampton Under 13′s Cricket league. They needed to score 3 runs off the final ball to win, they actually scored 4 !! The team is maturely led by Team Captain Aniz Mohammed who gains the respect from all his team members. Well done boys.

Easter concert a great success

Our Easter concert has been a great success again. Our students have performed brilliantly and wowed a very grateful audience. We are now looking forward to our school production in the Summer time.

Our Easter concert is on Monday 26th March and doors open at 7.00 pm. We will have a fantastic selection of dance, drama and music performances along with tea and refreshments. This will be a great way to celebrate and see our great building programme taking shape.

A double victory in court for King’s

Budding young lawyers put forward their case and won a a mock trial competition.

Students from The King’s CE School in Tettenhall won the Telford and Shropshire heat of the Young Magistrates Mock Trial Competition on Saturday 10th March for the second year in succession. They will now go to the regional final in Coventry in May.

Students won both their prosecution and defence cases in the courtroom that centered around a case of handling stolen goods by the character George Low. The pupils at the school played the roles of solicitors, magistrates, witnesses, usher, and defendant in the fictious court case. They were pitched against ten teams in the competition organised by the Citizenship Foundation.

The winning team were all students in year 9 : Mariette, Jake, Sandeep, Jahnavi, Lois, April, Tyona, Saffiya, Chantella, Roda, Priyanka, Alisha, Aneesa, Faye, Hannah and Lorraine.

“ This is a fantastic achievement and the competition is a wonderful way for students to learn about the law in action”.

BME Role Model Event

On Thursday 1st March 2012, King’s hosted the second BME Role Model
event we had a fantastic line up of speakers who were Carol Codner
from the EPB, Professor Karl George MBE, Henry Olonga the First Black
person to play International cricket, Leslie Fairclough a leading
entrepreneur , Doctor Josh Johnson, Sanjit Khela a former pupil and
Olympic Gold medallist Denise Lewis. The event was a rip roaring
success, leaving both students and staff feeling motivated and
inspired.

Our school allotment group receive prize

Our school allotment group have recently been presented with a fantastic bird feeder for the school allotment. Local Councillor Phil Page (Cabinet Member for Schools, Skills & Learning) presented the prize to our students for winning the Local Authority’s Seeds of Success competition. A big congratulations to them.

We are all looking forward to a bumper crop of fruit and veg that will be available to buy around school after Easter.
