FAQs

When is the LRC open?

The LRC is open Monday to Thursday from 8.00am until 4.30pm. On Friday the LRC is open during lesson time only.

How many books can I borrow?

Students are allowed to borrow two books at a time, which can be kept for up to two weeks

How do I get a library card?

You don't need one! The LRC uses ALICE library management system,which uses a biometric finger scanner. To borrow a book all you need to do is place your finger on the scanner.

How do I become a pupil librarian?

Once a year pupil librarian posts are advertised in school. Students from any year are eligible to apply. Successful pupils will undertake a short training scheme to allow them to learn about all the processes involved with the LRC.

What resources does the LRC have?

The LRC currently holds a stock of just over 5000 book items. In addition to this there are a growing number of audio cassettes, videos and DVDs.

There is a project collection of articles from newspapers and magazines which is useful for student research.

The LRC has 12 networked PCs which have Internet access.

Library staff are available before, during and after school to answer enquiries, and to help find information.
