How do I make an application to the school?
This page is intended to help parents through the application process for intake to the school in September 2008. However, should you require further information at any time, please contact the Admissions Officer, Mrs. Wilkinson on either 01902 558333 or by email to cwilkinson@lichfieldfoundation.org. uk
To make application to The King’s School it will be necessary to complete TWO FORMS
- The Common Application Form -available from your 'Home LA'
Your ‘Home LA’ is the Local Authority for where you live, not where your child
currently attends school.
On the Common Application Form, you must include The King’s School in your list of preferences and the schools must be listed in order of preference, not alphabetical order. For Wolverhampton, Dudley and Staffordshire, you will need to quote the school’s DCSF number which is 336/4731
For Wolverhampton, you must return the completed form to the Civic Centre or your child’s Primary School before 2 nd November 2007
If you need help in completing this form, contact the Choice Advisor,
Emma Pearson on 01902 550941
For other Local Authorities, you must return the completed form
to Walsall before 12 th October 2007
to Dudley, Staffordshire or Shropshire before 2 nd November 2007
You can also complete the Common Application Form on line.

- The Supporting Evidence Form -available from the school and in Wolverhampton LA's 'Secondary Education In Wolverhampton' booklet.
Before completing the Supporting Evidence Form it is recommended that you read the Admissions Criteria very carefully. Remember to include your Personal Letter and the support from your faith leader. If, for any reason, your faith leader is unavailable, due, for example to interregnum, illness or holiday you can obtain support from another officer or senior member of your faith community….a church warden, member of the committee, assistant minister.
If you reside in Tettenhall, Tettenhall Wood, Compton, Pendeford, Claregate, Whitmore Reans, Aldersley, Dunstall Park or Perton, you may qualify to apply to ‘ Parish Residential Place’ . You will need to complete Question 1 on PART TWO of the Supporting Evidence Form and ask the appropriate Church of England priest to sign that section to confirm that you do live within the boundary of the parish.

The Governors receive more applications than places available and so you are advised to submit all relevant information and evidence with your initial application and ensure the Governors are fully aware of all your family circumstances.
The Supporting Evidence Form must be returned to the Admissions Officer at the school before 4 .00 p.m. on Friday December 7 th 2007
What happens next?
- In November , Wolverhampton Local Authority [LA] will advise the Governors of the names of families who have included the school as one of their preferences. The alphabetical list will also contain the names of children who live outside Wolverhampton as other Local Authorities supply Wolverhampton with lists of families who have named this school on their common application form. The Governors will not know where you have ranked that school...first, second, fifth...
Please note:
The Governors can only consider applications from those families listed by
Wolverhampton LA
To enable Governors to fully consider your application, you must also complete a
Supporting Evidence Form , to show how you meet the published Admission
Criteria.
- In December , following consideration of the information given on the Supporting EvidenceForm, the Governors will allocate the places to those families who, from the evidence they have provided, best meet the published criteria.
- In January , the list will be returned to Wolverhampton LA indicating to whom places have been allocated.
- In February , the Local Authority will examine the lists received from all the Admitting Authorities, against the rankings given by you on the Common Application Form, liaising with other Local Authorities as necessary.
- On March 3 rd 2008. The next working day after The National Offer Day, you will be sent a letter naming the school at which a Secondary School place has been allocated to your child.
What if I am not offered a place at The King’s School?
You can apply to be placed on the waiting list of a school ranked higher on your Common ApplicationForm than the school at which you have received an offer. You should register with Wolverhampton Local Authority if you wish to be placed on a waiting list.
You can also request to appear before the Independent Appeals Panel. These requests will be handled by the Governors. More details of these procedures are published in the school brochure and can be obtained from the Admissions Officer at your request.
What if I accept a place at another school?
As soon as possible, you should advise the Admissions Officer, in writing, that you are surrendering the place in order that the Governors can offer the place to another family.
