Battlefields History trip

During the last weekend of September 42 students and 5 staff visited a number of First World War sites and memorials. Students researched information about local men who worked for the Mander Paint Company and visited their graves to pay their respectes.

On the Sunday evening, two King’s students were priviliged in laying a wreath during the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres. This ceremony is held every evening at 8pm when the Last Post reveille is sounded, wreaths are laid and a two minute silence is held to remember those who gave their lives in the Great War and subsequent conflicts.

This group photo was taken at the Canadian memorial at Vimy Ridge.
