During this course you will have the opportunity to:
- Broaden your knowledge of real world issues and events
- Develop as an effective and independent learner
- Apply your learning to the real world through fieldwork and out-of-classroom learning
During the course you will study the following topics:
- Dynamic Planet – climate change, earthquake and volcanoes, water world, coastal change, extreme climates
- People and the Planet – population, resources, making a living, changing cities, world at work and development issues
- Geography skills - investigations and enquiry, decision making, ICT, GIS and mapping, communication and fieldwork skills.
During the course you will be expected to complete the following assignments/pieces of coursework:
You will complete two written exams (1 hour each and modular, available in Year 10 and 11) – worth 25% each.
You will also have a decision making exercise based around a resource pack you are given to study before the exam. This will focus on a key issue eg Antartica or Climate Change. There is a 1 hour exam worth 25% - modular, available in Year 10 and 11)
You will carry out a piece of fieldwork and write an investigation report. 25% of GCSE and done in Year 11.

Who should study this subject?
