In Years 10 and 11 you will still do your normal double PE lesson, but you can also choose to do an extra GCSE PE course. We study the OCR Examining Board PE syllabus. The course has a mix of practical and theory lessons and is made up of 4 units. The units and topics covered in the GCSE are: Unit B451: An Introduction to Physical Education •Key Concepts in PE •Key Processes in PE •Opportunities, Pathways and Participation in Physical Activity Levels of participation in sport and physical activity. Reasons for participation and non-participation. Social and cultural reasons affecting participation, school influences on participation and identification of pathways for improvements Unit B452: Practical Performance and Developing Fitness Your practical performance is assessed in 2 different activities, and a ‘Lifestyle Analysis’ task is completed. Unit B453: Developing Knowledge in Physical Education Developing skills, techniques and motivation Unit B454: Practical Performance and Developing Skill Your practical performance is assessed in 2 different activities, and a ‘Skill Analysis’ task is completed. One of these practical performances can be in the role of a leader, coach or official.
